The charity has established convenient clothing donation bins throughout the city, including the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens. It offers donation pickups within New York City through Wearable Collections for added convenience. Schedule a pickup through their online form.
In collaboration with Wearable Collections, GrowNYC ensures that your donated items are used well. The highest-quality items are sold, while lower-quality pieces are recycled, reducing waste and benefiting our sustainable initiatives, much like Greendrop and Heart for the Homeless.
Moreover, it sponsors Stop ‘N’ Swap events, providing opportunities for donors to exchange high-quality clothing, houseware, books, games, and toys with others in the community.
Their mission is inspired by the very first Earth Day. It encompasses a wide range of initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for New Yorkers and fostering a greener, more sustainable future.
Since the inception of its Green Space program in 1975, the organization has established over 125 new gardens for communities and schools throughout New York City, providing green spaces for all to enjoy.
It operates a network of farmers’ markets, ensuring fresh and locally sourced produce is easily accessible to city residents. At its Greenmarket spaces, unsold food is always well-spent. It donates surplus food to food banks, food pantries, and soup kitchens across New York.
GrowNYC actively supports Zero Waste Programs with the NYC Department of Sanitation. It helps spread awareness about recycling and composting initiatives, contributing to reduced waste in the city.
Furthermore, their educational programs include educating NYCHA residents to become Environmental Ambassadors, empowering them to lead community recycling efforts.
By contributing to GrowNYC’s clothing donation program, you play a vital role in supporting their sustainable initiatives and making New York City greener and more eco-friendly for all its residents.
